According to
THE legend...

In remote times, the ruler of the area, Beskid, son of Karpath, lived on Baranja Mountain with his wife Borana. They had a son, Lan, and two daughters, Biala and Chernushka. The girls differed in beauty and temperament. Living under the care of their parents, they took care of animals and guarded two springs where forest creatures quenched their thirst.

One day, the girls decided to venture out into the world. Despite their parents' pleas, they set off. At first, the girls wandered separately, but soon they met again and continued their journey together; the waters of the two springs followed them. Holding hands, they traversed the lands of Silesia, Cracow, Sandomierz, Mazovia, and Masuria to reach the Baltic Sea.

The girls never returned to their parents. Longing for their daughters, the parents sent them greetings in the form of garlands of flowers, flowing from the mountains to the sea.
